A Pioneer in Turkish TTS Voice
I’m Selcuk Birdal, a professional Turkish voice over actor and one of the pioneers of Turkish Text-to-Speech (TTS) voice recording. Since 2008, my recordings have been used in major platforms and global technology products.
My TTS journey began with SVOX in 2008, when I traveled to Zurich, Switzerland, to record my voice. This work contributed to the development of one of the first high-quality Turkish TTS voices, which was later used across products and platforms by global technology companies.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class (Turkish Navigation Voice)
In 2009, I traveled to Stuttgart, Germany, where I recorded the Turkish navigation voice for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. This became one of the landmark projects in my career as a professional Turkish voice over artist, bringing my voice directly to Mercedes-Benz drivers in Turkey.
My collaboration was also featured by Mercedes-Benz on its official media platform.
“Hey Mercedes”: The Voice of Turkish TTS
My long-standing collaboration with Mercedes-Benz continued with the introduction of MBUX and its “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant. First presented by Mercedes-Benz in 2018, MBUX introduced a new generation of natural voice interaction in Mercedes-Benz vehicles. My Turkish TTS recordings were used for the system’s voice output, extending my work with Mercedes-Benz into this new voice interface.
This collaboration followed my earlier work in 2009, when I traveled to Stuttgart, Germany, to record the Turkish navigation voice for Mercedes-Benz vehicles — an important project in my career as a professional Turkish voice over artist.
iPhone & Apple Computers TTS Voice "Cem"
My voice has been part of Apple’s Turkish Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology and is available on Apple devices as the Turkish TTS voice “Cem.” It is used for text-to-speech and spoken content features, rather than Siri.
This project represents another important milestone in my career as a professional Turkish voice over artist and a pioneer in Turkish TTS voice recording.
Voice for Global TTS & Navigation Systems
My voice was used for the first Turkish Text-to-Speech (TTS) voice in Google Translate, bringing spoken Turkish translations to millions of users. My TTS recordings have also been used in a wide range of other products and platforms, including navigation systems in automobiles and yachts.
